A Tribute to Bellini

The Catania Chamber Orchestra specializes in bringing the Italian classical and operatic tradition to life. Made up of orchestra musicians trained at Sicily’s most prestigious conservatories, together with some of Catania’s most promising young performers, recognized in major national and international opera and symphonic competitions, the Catania Chamber Orchestra presents, for its 2025 Music Season, an engaging series of concerts for orchestra ensemble and voices.
The concerts draw inspiration from the work of Catania’s most celebrated composer, Vincenzo Bellini, and then lead audiences into the world of Baroque and operatic production between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the artistic context in which Bellini worked and from which he drew inspiration. From Vivaldi to Verdi, from Rossini to Puccini, with Donizetti, Bizet, and others along the way, this is an unforgettable journey through great classical music and the Italian operatic tradition.

The concerts will be hosted in the prestigious and monumental Church of the Badia di Sant’Agata, built beside the Cathedral where Maestro Bellini is buried. In addition to its precious and beautifully preserved interiors, the Badia di Sant’Agata is also known for its panoramic terrace, which can be reached by an internal lift and offers a unique view over the remarkable city of Catania.
